All I have to offer

All I have to offer you is my love.

I don't have a fortune. I can't buy you all the things I want to buy you. There is no fortune in the world that could buy everything I want to buy for you.

I can barely buy you the most paltry of presents. Simple flowers make an impact on my finances. I'm already in debt to other people. I have future debts which I will accrue. The bouquets I wish to lavish upon you may as well be made of gold and diamonds, for they are out of my reach.

I can't even give you my time. My time has been spoken for. If it were in my power, I would never sleep. I would stay awake every night, so that I could finally give you the hours you deserve. If I could, I would trade in years of my life to make every day this year one hour longer, so I could at least spend now with you.

I want to make you happy.

I want to make the world your paradise.

I wish I could craft the world into a utopia, so that you would never have need to cry.

All I have to offer you is my love.

What a poetic sounding sentiment. Yet it is such a paltry gift. Giving you my love isn't under my control. You would have my love even if I didn't wish to give it.

I gave you my love before I even realized it. Loving you is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me, so how can I offer it as a gift?
